If one tries to guess about the novel after hearing the name 'Panditamshai', one would be wrong.

The name comes originally from a character in the novel named Vrindavan Adhikari. Vrindavan of the Vaishna community originally opened a school at his own expense for the education of the lower classes, for which the rich Vrindavan paid for the children's study equipment. Although the novel is named after this self-motivated 'Panditamshai' who has a deep sense of responsibility for the country, the main character of the novel is Panchdashi Kishori Kusum.

Kusum bears some resemblance to female characters in Saratchandra Chatterjee's other novels. Kusum's childhood history is unknown to him, that unknown history is filled with such filth in the village society of that time that at the end of the novel Kusum has a severe existential crisis. Kusum is basically a strong-willed and self-centered teenager. Although he is always clear about himself, his self-esteem does not allow him to reach a reconciliation at the beginning of the novel Of course, this novel would probably not have been such a hit if this intense young lady had not been born with such a spirit.

Kusum's brother Kunj

There are three kinds of changes in Kunj's character in the novel. In the beginning, he is affectionate towards his younger sister, but in the middle, we can see an impression of traditional Bengali society in him. People change with money and fame, Kunj's case has not budged Although his intense affection for his younger sister presents him differently in the end Read the novel to know how.

Although the novel is developed with these three main characters, some more powerful characters are seen in it But they are developed entirely for the needs of the novel
